Education has always been central to the activities at The Stables. Today’s education programme remains faithful to John Dankworth and Cleo Laine’s vision of ‘allmusic’ – breaking down barriers between different musical genres and encouraging people to explore, create and perform music of all kinds. This unique and unbiased approach has inspired many young people on their path towards a musical career or an interest in music for life.
Dominic Miller, who attended the Allmusic Course at The Stables in the 1970s, went on to become a professional guitarist and regularly performs in Sting’s band. He says: “Being at The Stables helped define who I am and what I represent today as a musician.”
