Current Projects
The Stables has been bringing music making opportunities to children in the early years since 2002. Music Mites sessions are designed to introduce pre-school children and their carers to the building blocks of music through songs, stories and games. Sessions are lead by experienced early years music leaders and guest musicians. Each guest musician brings a different instrument into the session, giving children the chance to get close to the instruments, often for the first time in their lives, and to experience new musical sounds and ideas.
Music Mites began with support from trained music leaders and with musicians from Birmingham Conservatoire, and has since trained and supported a number of music leaders and musicians to work in early years settings. Music Mites has been supported over the years by Youth Music, Milton Keynes Community Foundation and The Local Network Fund. Music Mites continues to deliver sessions at The Stables and in Children’s Centres and Nurseries across Milton Keynes.
