October 2011 saw the 50th anniversary of the release of Acker Bilk's Stranger On The Shore which topped the charts in USA, Australia and the UK, staying in our charts for over 52 weeks. It is still played all over the world. Acker is still touring with his Paramount Jazz Band at venues around UK and Europe. Not bad going for a gentleman in his 80s, who has been in the business for over 60 years, receiving many awards on the way - too many to mention here. His fans still write and e-mail their appreciation for the way Acker's music has influenced and inspired them.
